Out from Plymouth
Oil on canvas
12 x 30 inches
In this painting of the late 18th Century, three ships-of-the-line with two frigates have just cleared the Sound and are heading out into the Channel with a fresh NW breeze on a summer afternoon. The Cornish coast, terminating in Penlee Point is the left with the sunlit buildings of Plymouth beyond.
