Investigating Wreckage, Loch Katrine Hove-to
12 x 18 inches (30 x 45 cm)
Exhibited: Polak Gallery 1995 Exhibition number 11
On a calm morning after bad weather the Loch Katrine has sighted wreckage and lies hove-to on the starboard tack. A boat has been launched and is investigating flotsam in the hope that it will give the name of the vessel from which it has come, this often being the only clue as to the fate of a missing ship.
The Loch Katrine was Launched on the Clyde in 1869. She was the first of Aitken & Lilburn's celebrated Loch Line and continued in their Australian trade until she was sold in 1910
